Recipes – Breakfast Smoothies

With so many delicious meal options on our weekly menu, it would just be plain rude not to share them with you all! After many requests for recipes, this is part two of three on my quest to personal and professional greatness. My goal is to inspire, educate & support people to transform their lives & their wellness. And what better way to start than with the most important meal of the day – you know it – breakfast. Breakfast provides the body and brain with fuel after an overnight fast. Without breakfast you are effectively running on empty, like trying to start a car without petrol! Not only does it provide us with the energy we need to start the day, but it boosts our cognitive function too! Wake up & shake up. Quick and easy breakfast ideas for you!

Mint Chocolate Smoothie:

This yummy breakfast smoothie is up there will my all time fave – avocado will leave you feeling full while the peppermint extract provides a refreshing start to the day.

You will need:

  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 tsp of ‘Super Choc’ or Cacao Powder
  • 1 cup of nut milk (unsweetened almond or coconut works well)
  • 2 medjool dates, pitted
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 2 drops of peppermint extract (to taste)
  • 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder (optional)
  • A few fresh mint leaves and cacao nibs to garnish

Place all ingredients except for the mint leaves and cacao nibs in a blender and blend until creamy and smooth. Taste, and add more peppermint extract if desired.

Pour into a glass and top with chopped mint and cacao nibs.

Banana Nut Smoothie:

This classic breakfast smoothie is my number one go-to! Goes down a treat, every damn time!

You will need:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 tsp of Peanut Butter (PICs or Fix & Fogg)
  • 1 cup of nut milk (unsweetened almond or coconut works well)
  • 1 Medjool date
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (optional)
  • A few pieces of banana and cacao nibs to garnish

Place all ingredients except for the banana pieces and cacao nibs in a blender and blend until creamy and smooth.

Pour into a glass and top with chopped banana and cacao nibs. Cinnamon & coconut are other yummy toppers.

Classic Green Smoothie:

This classic breakfast is my top green smoothie! Can never quite believe how much of nutrient punch this one packs, in one small glass. Get it in ya!

You will need:

  • 1/2 avocado
  • Handful of spinach
  • 1 tsp of ‘Super Greens’ powder
  • 1/2 cup of nut milk (unsweetened almond or coconut works well)
  • 1/2 cup of coconut water
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (optional)
  • LSA and pumpkin seeds to garnish

Place all ingredients e in a blender and blend until creamy and smooth.

Pour into a glass and top with LSA and pumpkin seeds.

Creamy Mint, Pineapple & Kiwifruit Smoothie:

This wee number is a kiwi classic sure to delight the taste buds. What a sensation to wake up to.

You will need:

  • A handful of pineapple pieces
  • 1 ripe green kiwi, peeled
  • 1 cup of coconut water
  • 1-2 tsps of honey (with a high UMF grade is best)
  • 1 tbsp of mint leaves finely diced
  • 5-6 ice cubes (optional)

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until creamy and smooth.

Pour into a glass and top with sliced kiwifruit & sunflower seeds.

Blackcurrant, Blueberry & Almond Smoothie:

Berries are just all round good for you, and the more intense the colour the better. Berries contain resveratrol which helps protect your cells from free radicals and numerous degenerative diseases. Cheers to that!

You will need:

  • 1/4 cup blackcurrants
  • 1/4 cup blueberries
  • 1 tbsp of honey (with a high UMF grade is best)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup almond milk (unsweetened)
  • 1 tsp acai powder
  • 1 tsp camu camu powder
  • 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein powder (optional)

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until creamy and smooth.

Pour into a glass and top with 1/2 tsp of bee pollen for an immune boost.

Cacao Maca Boost Smoothie:

Energise your body naturally with a cacao and maca boost. These two gems work synergistically, providing you with a sustainable energy boost. The chia seeds and coconut meat make this a satisfying drink preparing you for action.

You will need:

  • 1 tbsp cacao or ‘Super Choc’ powder
  • 1 tsp cacao nibs
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 2 tsp maca powder
  • 1 tbsp of coconut flesh
  • 1/3 cup of coconut water
  • 1/2 scoop of chocolate protein powder (optional)

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until creamy and smooth.

Pour into a glass and garnish with a fine sprinkle of maca powder, LSA and cacao nibs.

Serves: 1    Time: 5 min    GF    DF    WF    V    RSF

 

Berries and Cream Smoothie:

This sweet treat is sure to delight your taste buds with its naughty flavour, but rest assured, this baby is guilt free!

You will need:

  • 1/2 cup of raspberries
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 tbsp of maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup of coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup of coconut cream
  • 1 tbsp coconut yoghurt
  • 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein powder

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until creamy and smooth.

Chia Jam:

  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 2 tbsp rice malt syrup
  • 2 tbsp of water OR orange juice
  • zest of 1 orange (optional)

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until creamy and smooth.

Pour mixture into a saucepan and cook over a medium heat, while whisking for about 5-7 minutes; the mixture should bubble. Take it off the heat and allow to cool.

Store in an airtight container or glass jar in the fridge for up to two weeks.

Pour into a glass swirled with chia jam and garnish with a fine sprinkle of coconut and freeze dried raspberries
